Leadership Team

Liquavista’s world class team is based on the experience of key individuals who have been recruited to supply a broad experience in its core technology areas, successful commercialisation of new hardware and in-depth knowledge of the mobile display markets.

Johan Feenstra, CEO

Johan Feenstra, CTOJohan Feenstra received his PhD in Solid State Physics from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands in 1997. After that he spent 1.5 years as a post-doc at the university of Maryland working on microwave microscopy. In 1999 he moved to the Philips Research Labs in Eindhoven, the Netherlands where he worked on electrowetting technology and its applications. He is co-inventor of electrowetting displays and in 2006 founded Liquavista together with Rob Hayes. He was CTO of Liquavista and after the recent acquisition of Liquavista by Samsung, he became CEO of the Samsung LCD Netherlands R&D Center BV (SNRC). Johan Feenstra is the author of more than 50 papers in internationally refereed journals, various book chapters and a large number of patents pending and granted.

SH Lee – CFO

SH Lee, CFO Sungho Lee brings extensive experience in setting up and integrating organizations. He has fulfilled key positions where the integration of companies and the setup of new systems and policies were needed; the first being the merger & acquisition activities between Samsung’s semiconductor division and Fairchild Semiconductor and the last being the establishment of the S-LCD alliance between Samsung’s LCD division and Sony Electronics. Within SNRC he is responsible for all financial activities and in particular the integration of the company and systems with Samsung Electronics HQ.

Anthony Slack, CTO & VP of Research and Development

Anthony Slack, VP of Business Development Anthony graduated with BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, majoring in ASIC design, and an MPhil in Applied Materials, specializing in display applications. He has worked in the field of display development and commercialization for more than 20 years, including working on many of the most significant new technologies to have come to market in that time. Anthony has held positions with Motorola and Philips, and spent 8 years based in S.E. Asia, in a variety of hi-tech roles. Anthony is responsible for all aspects of commercial strategy at Liquavista, including Sales, Marketing and Partnerships, as well as defining technology strategy and outlook.

Mick Evans, VP of Manufacturing

Mick Evans, VP of Technology With over 35 years experience, Mick is a veteran in the electronic display industry. His broad range of knowledge started with LCD’s in the early 70’s and then continued into several technologies including inorganic electroluminescence, vacuum fluorescence, cathode ray tubes, and PolyLed. Spanning these years he moved from the R&D Laboratory to building mass production LCD factories in China for Philips LCD Cells & Modules. Trained as a Materials Scientist he is specialized in industrialization of manufacturing processes and brings his knowledge and skills to his role at Liquavista.

Eric Derckx, VP of Engineering

Eric Derckx, Director Development Engineering Eric received engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering (cum laude) and Technology Management. After his graduation he joined Philips, where over the years he worked on and successfully managed various system engineering and technology development programs for Philips Semiconductors and Philips Mobile Display Systems. Doing so he developed his expertise in display and semiconductor related system and application architectures, building and managing multi disciplinary / multi-cultural programs and teams, setting up and maintaining development partnerships with key-suppliers and supporting marketing and sales organizations managing strategic customer relations. Within Liquavista he is responsible for all system engineering activities, bridging between fundamental electrowetting technology, display cell manufacturing, strategic partnerships and the market.
